?!X: What’s the Future You Choose?

AA: I want to live in a world that does not bring tears to the eyes of millions of children everyday. I would like to be able to travel anywhere in the world and not have to meet people living under cruel dictatorships, under occupation, starving, living in poverty or unable to go after what they dream of.  A selfless world where people do not care more about celebrities than the starving millions, where people think  ‘That could have been me’ and work to help the unfortunate. I want the future that is available to me to be available to anyone else who wants it.  A fair, equal world.

?!X: What’s a ‘think’ to create this future?

AA: My ‘think’ is this translated lyric from an old Arabic song: “From the pain we will create victory” It goes for anything. Studying for exams is painful but it usually pays off. Getting hurt by others isn’t easy but it makes you stronger and wiser. The Egyptian revolution seemed hopeless when it started out but they managed to get rid of Mubarak in the end. Patience and perseverance can and will get you anywhere you want in life.

?!X: What’s an ‘act’ to create the future you choose?

AA: My ‘act’ is talking to people. I walk almost everywhere and sometimes just stopping to talk to an elderly person can make their whole week seem brighter. Or go to an event and find some interesting people to speak to, hear what they have to say and let them inspire you. Talk to someone successful and make their position your goal. If they did it, who says you can’t do the same thing? Or something bigger and greater? Have faith and confidence in yourself!

?!X: What’s a ‘vote’ to create the future you choose?

AA: It’s easy to get angry. I know that from experience. But I think if we could all turn that anger into action, a lot of people would benefit and it would make you feel better to.
Find a charity. Call them up or write to them and offer your time and services. Volunteer.

If you don’t have enough time for that, visit http://amnesty.org/ and join, donate, sign a petition every now and then.

Or create your own campaign. What and who matters the most to you? Get a pen and paper and start writing down some ideas.

?!X: Future Soundtrack – What song would you take with you into the future?

AA: Something Inside So Strong by Labi Siffre.
Powerful voice and powerful lyrics.
