Throughout 2012 we are sharing an illustration with you every week to help you to re-imagine the future that you choose. For the eleventh week of 2012 , we are sharing Nicola Harwood’s Future. Having just spent the last week thinking about who has a voice in the world, with International Women’s Day on March 8th, we thought that this quote and illustration summarised what we were thinking.

Nicola Harwood's Future by Natalie Hughes

Nicola Harwood’s Future:

The Future I choose is one where everyone knows how to use their voice in their community, or globally.

Artwork by Natalie Hughes:

This statement resonated to me because as someone who isn’t naturally ‘political’ I think it’s important that anyone and everyone is able to express their thoughts on the future of our world. I tried to illustrate the idea that everyone has their own vision of the future, and that in fact there are multiple and endless possibilities for our world. Whatever our future, we should all have our voices heard. I imagined all these voices: all individuals and all with equal importance, and felt comforted that no matter what issues we all face, we live in an age where we can ALL discuss, debate and share our thoughts.
