?!X: What’s the Future You Choose?
LF: I choose a transparent future where people cannot turn a blind eye to the sacrifices made to allow them to live the way they are used to. The likes of Nikolaus Geyrhalter’s ‘Our Daily Bread’ and Jennifer Baichwals’s ‘Manufactured Landscapes’ would be required viewing so educated decisions about how to live can be made. Everything comes from somewhere, something, someone. Here, in this future, I can discuss these issues without the other party ever assuming I am idealistic and fanciful. It is important that people will strive to see things from other people’s point of view. They realise most people are only doing their best to do their best, albeit in different ways to each other.
And I absolutely want a green hoverboard! I think they are due in two years..
?!X: What’s a ‘think’ to create this future?
LF: “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know” – Aristotle
The above quote and Milan Kundera’s writing inform nearly all aspects of my philosophical thought. I don’t think I can begin talking about Kundera without writing an essay.. I can’t believe someone can express my thoughts so well(and of course he adds to them a hundredfold).
?!X: What’s an ‘act’ to create the future you choose?
LF: I think everybody should try to work in care services at some point, for example with the homeless or in palliative care. These acts are great levellers which I conversely find very inspirational, catalysts to think on what it is to be human and why we are who we are.
?!X: What’s a ‘vote’ to create the future you choose?
LF: I like Adbusters so long as it is treated with caution – it teaches you to question everything presented to you in the world, but don’t forget to question also what it presents to you – do your own research, make your own mind up.
?!X: Future Soundtrack – What song would you take with you into the future?
LF: Sick of it All, Built to Last – I like angry sounding songs to dance to no matter how happy I am, but I chose this one thanks to its positive message of truth, living in the moment and making the choice to see the best in things.
