Umair Baig is 20yr old student, that’s always been a slight little odd-ball. Incredibly bright and creative, mature yet immature. Some might even call him a paradox the way he behaves, and yet he’s always been kind natured to others. Possibly his best asset is that he looks at everyone as being equal and is always there for you if you want some help with any sort of problem. The type of person that once you get to know him, you know you’re glad you did. Umair blogs at Unravelling U.
?!X: What’s the Future You Choose?
UB: The future I choose, is a future where we respect each other, people aren’t narrow minded or ignorant towards peoples beliefs/colour of their skin/ opinions. Politicians don’t start wars for reasons such as trying to monopolise natural resources from other countries, or for peronal reasons. I want a future where the next generation don’t listen to fear-mongering stories on the news channels but rather look forward to tomorrow and have a bright future. Simply put, I want a future where equality is true for all and people can chase after their dreams without any worries.
?!X: What’s a ‘think’ to create this future?
UB: Many things have influenced me for the future that I desire. Noticing the corruptness and all the fallacy that is given to us from the politicians and the media, about how many double standards there are for muslims right now, and how freedom of speech is true for anybody except muslims, that wish to vent their anger at how their fellow muslim brothers and sisters are being slaughtered for no good reason. And yet how the american soldier isn’t being charged for murdering INNOCENT women and children, but a 19 year old british muslim was sent to jail because he said some things against the soldiers that are out in Afghanistan. The racism that my family has faced over the years, back in the 80’s under Thatcher’s rule, and once again in recent times since the conservative government has come in to power, racism arises again. But moreover it’s my own wishes and desires that I want to see a world where I don’t have to worry about going out and being judged for the way I look and be treated equally to others. And the fact that I want to chase after my own dreams and career without being held back, but knowing that it isn’t possible in this current climate.
?!X: What’s an ‘act’ to create the future you choose?
UB: Contact your MP and make him aware of your position. Ask them to raise this issue in the house of parliament and seek to change this. Don’t let people tell you that you can’t do something because it doesn’t fit in with their agenda.
?!X: What’s a ‘vote’ to create the future you choose?
UB: My vote goes for Spark & Mettle, they are new charity organisation that are trying to help youths get in to their dream career no matter how wacky it may be.
?!X: Future Soundtrack – What song would you take with you into the future?
UB: Starlight By Miho Fukuhara
?!X: What are your five all time favourite weblinks?
UB:
Manga reader – because many fantastic ideas are created in manga, and those ideas and philosophies can help bring about a brighter future
Origami-instructions – because everybody needs to do a bit of origami in their lives to relax and be more creative
StumbleUpon – there are so many great things on the internet, it can sometimes be hard to find things that you’re interested in, so why don’t you let this do it for you
TED – there are so many amazing talks on here, you’re bound to learn something new and interesting from these videos
Codeyear – learning how to code and proogram is a very useful tool, not only does it mean you can become a bit more self-reliant, but it also teaches you teh basic understanding of how to think logically. sounds a bit patronising but many people that i’ve come across, lack the ability to think logically about things
