Throughout 2012 we are sharing an illustration with you every week to help you to re-imagine the future that you choose. For the eighteenth week of 2012 , we are sharing Daisy de Villenueve’s Future. Daisy is an illustrator herself, with a reputation for funky felt tip drawings. She is an old friend of ?!X as judged our t-shirt design competition back in 2010.
Daisy de Villeneuve’s Future:
The Future I choose is Eco friendly. Recycling becomes a priority in every household!
Artwork by Matthew Dale:
I have always had an interest and draw to putting social and and environmental subjects in my work. Global worming, deforestation and having a greater respect for the environment are really fundamental issues that need essential recognition and will be prevalent for many years to come. It is important for changes in people’s attitude and actions to happen internationally because the problem relates to the shared environment across the planet. Presently in different parts of the world, in different countries and continents, the government policies and education given to people has not uniformly recognised the urgency of the problem. The actions of each individual and nation may effect different people and places but it needs to be considered as a collective responsibility. I included a reference to a younger person recycling because of the need for education on these subjects to be primarily taught. The forces at the top of the page of road pollution, powerstations and deforestation are hopefully being balanced and eclipsed by the subjects below including recycling, cycling and environmental living. The policeman centrally symbolises the state, and the potential it has to halt the negative forces above.
