Throughout 2012 we are sharing an illustration with you every week to help you to re-imagine the future that you choose. For the twenty-sixth week of 2012, we are sharing activist Jahlia Osha’s Future.
Jahlia’s Future:
The Future I Choose is one that includes inspired and acting people.
Artwork by Mike Harman:
I chose the quote by Jalia because of the strength in its simplicity. I just considered what someone might need, to be able to be inspired and acting. I wanted to keep the image clear and simple, to tie in with the quote – and to make the colours more subtle than the words (or prompts) in the image- the same reason for using a limited colour palette. It was a lot more fun to paint than I’m making it sound! The decision making to creation was quite quick, I knew what I wanted to do and how almost straight away, just took a few roughs to work out a composition. The quote, very appropriately inspired me into acting.
