“I have an innate trust that if we go humbly and respectfully to nature with our questions, prayers, and longings we will be met by it. Because we are it and it is us and the conversation between us is aching to be remembered in a world that has taught us to forget it.” ~ Will Scott

About this interview:

How can we reconnect deeply to ourselves, our community, and our planet?

In this episode, Amisha sits down with facilitator and educator Will Scott. At the time of this interview, Will was evacuated from his home and community in Sonoma County, California due to the wildfires that are raging there.

Will speaks about closely encountering this fierce natural manifestation of climate crisis, and what he notices in his own reactions and responses, as well as those of his community and others around them. He gets curious about how the fire season in California impacts and potentially influences the direction of tech innovation in the Bay Area, and what it will take to see real change occurring in the way we live now.

Will shares the core principles and practices that underpin his work at the Weaving Earth Center for Relational Education. He explains his view that many of the crises and imbalances we are facing have their roots in a lack of connection or relationship – to ourselves, to others and to the natural world we are a part of. He explains how marking and honoring life transitions with the support of the natural world can support a deep reconnection across all of these levels, and how this experience has shaped his own life and work.

Together Amisha and Will discuss learning and unlearning, privilege and inclusion, and how community can hold, facilitate and help us to integrate transformative experiences into our daily lives. They share their perspectives on masculine and feminine archetypal roles, reclaiming the wholeness of our identity, and how to better meet the wildness and vulnerability within ourselves and others.

“Sometimes I think we are just trying to remember how to be good humans again – and that’s really a lifelong process. If we do our job well, we will make ourselves obsolete and we won’t need programmes to educate like that anymore.” ~ Will Scott
