“Your unique self is part of your natural innate being. As is your greatness, sometimes it’s been cultivated, sometimes it’s something you came into the world with, but you have unique greatness. And once we start to allow that greatness, to allow ourselves to identify with it, it doesn’t make us arrogant, it makes us able to recognise our worth.” Sally Kempton

In this special episode, we pay tribute to the beautiful soul Sally Kempton, one of today’s most authentic spiritual teachers. Sally left her body on Monday 10th July 2023, in her eightieth year. She was a profound voice of this time contributing to our global community with her teachings and wisdom in life-changing ways. She loved sharing with us, and she treasured the learnings and hope we spread with this podcast. As a spiritual teacher she touched the lives of thousands of people through her books, retreats and courses – and of course her meditations and transmissions.

In this loving tribute, we share deep insights into Sally’s life path, her teachings and how she has personally touched many in our midst. You hear from Amisha, our podcast host, who was a student of Sally’s for almost a decade, and how this has guided and impacted her and her life’s work. One of the most powerful aspects of being in Sally’s orbit was the community of incredible teachers who loved to be with her, the kula. In this tribute we share the tributes of Sianna Sherman and Tara Judelle, who you will know from the podcast as well as many other beautiful yoga teachers, students and friends of Sally who share their heartfelt memories. We hear some of Sally’s teachings, part of ’Leading from Soul’, her masterclass from our ‘Beautiful Leadership Immersion’.

We offer this episode up in reverence to the deep love that Sally brought to this world.

“Learning to walk humbly on the cusp of what needs to be done and what we are capable and qualified to do is a huge thing that every one of us needs to find a way to navigate.”  ~Sally Kempton

Sally Kempton was our guest on Episode 8 shares her wisdom in Episode 92, Episode 117 (which she hosts) and Episode 162. Though Sally offered many courses for beginning meditation students, she is also regarded as a ‘teacher’s teacher’, whose approach inspired long-time practitioners to free themselves from routine meditation practice, and move deeper. She taught devotional contemplative tantra—an approach to practise that creates a fusion of knowing and loving. Known for her ability to transmit inner experience through transformative practices and contemplation, Sally had been practising and teaching for over forty years. A disciple of the Indian guru Swami Muktananda, she spent twenty years as a teaching swami (monk) in the Saraswati order of Indian monks. In her guru’s ashram, she received a traditional training in yoga philosophy and practice, and became a popular teacher, deeply versed in the teachings and practices of Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism. In 2002, Sally began teaching independently and offered heart-to-heart transmission in meditation and life practice through her Awakened Heart Tantra workshops, teleclasses, retreats, and trainings in applied spiritual philosophy. Her workshops and teleconference courses (which you can access through her website) integrate the wisdom of traditional yoga tantra with the insights of contemporary evolutionary spirituality and cutting-edge psychology. Sally is the author of “Meditation for the Love of It”, “Awakening Shakti: The Transformative Power of the Goddesses of Yoga” as well as the audio book – “Doorways to the Infinite: The Art and Practice of Tantric Meditation.”
