“Stepping out of consumerism and capitalist driven ways of living to come together in some sort of collective action is already a demonstration of solidarity, care and wanting to step into these other ways of being and relating.” Teresa Machado

About this interview: How can radical friendship and collective action transform our approach to activism and create a more equitable world?
In this episode, Amisha sits together with two amazing women, Nat Skoczylas and Teresa Machado.
Teresa is a project caretaker, events curator, and editor of The Radicals, shaping radical world-building experiments and working with the feminisation of politics collective. Nat is a community organiser, activist and artist building trans/queer/eco-feminist futures, anarchist spaces, and networks of solidarity and mutual aid.
Together they share their visions for the future, reflecting on the power of community and the need to reclaim the narrative around radicalism. This episode highlights how curiosity, trust, and solidarity can help us navigate the challenges of late-stage capitalism and today’s social justice movements.
We hope it inspires you to reclaim the radical within yourself and explore how solidarity, care, and imagination can transform the world we live in.
This podcast was made in collaboration with The Radicals, a storytelling initiative powered by the Guerrilla Foundation. The project explores contemporary radicalism, reclaiming what it means to be radical while showcasing the diverse faces of root-cause activism worldwide. Through authentic and inspiring stories, they aim to reframe activists, uproot misconceptions, and reroute rebellions.
“We need to get out of our heads and we need to also abandon some of our prejudices about who’s educated, who’s not, who’s refined, who’s worthy that we want to work with and get curious and be together.” Nat Skoczylas
Teresa is a project caretaker & events curator, a story-smeller, and a systems change aficcionada. She is Guerrilla’s communications co-pilot and the editor of the storytelling portal The Radicals. She has been an integral part of shaping Waking Life as a radical, world-building experiment. She helps build the collective muscle of municipalism at the European Municipalist Network – particularly through her indispensable work with the feminisation of politics collective. She digs food culture and subversive art, likes to get baked while listening to Chet Baker and reading Sara Ahmed. At large because of systemic conditioning, Teresa is sometimes haunted by her and our apparent lack of creativity to think that ‘another way is possible’. She finds soothing to experiment with radical imagination, shifting the focus to process rather than result. She identifies as a she that is home to a we, referring to the multitudes of emotional layers that reveal her selves. She lives in Berlin but is physiologically and emotionally dependent on the southern light, which is why she regularly returns to her homeland, Portugal.
Nat (they/them) is a community organiser, activist and artist living between Berlin and Massiaru in Estonia, focusing on building trans/queer/eco feminist futures, anarchist and abolitionist spaces and practices that connect us across time and space. Their work moves on various levels – from the inner transformation, led by spirituality and interconnectedness beyond our species (only), to collective practices in organising and living together but also running spaces, “parainstitutions”, anarchist temporary structures; housing struggles in Berlin, intersectional anti-opression work; fundraising, mutual aid, infrastructure and capacity building for the revolution and beyond, to building wide networks of solidarity and mutual aid and cooperative infrastructures, alternative economies and interested in all forms of mutiny.
The Radicals is a storytelling initiative powered by the Guerrilla Foundation that explores contemporary radicalism, reclaims what it means to be radical, showcases the diverse faces of root-cause activism worldwide and tells fuckin’ inspiring & authentic stories that are meant to reframe activists, uproot misconceptions & reroute rebellions.
