“When you feel that creative fire inside, be true to that. It doesn’t mean it’s gonna save the world, but it might save you, and that could be just as important.” William Etundi

About this interview:

In this TIMELESS episode, we revisit a conversation from 2018 with William Etundi on creativity, activism and the slow, imperfect spiralling up of change.

William reflects on the activist movements that shaped him, the cost of forcing change, and the quieter courage of listening to what is most essential within us. Moving from political burnout into creative truth, he shares a powerful reminder that creativity does not have to save the whole world to matter.

For anyone who has ever tried to be useful, good or brave while quietly abandoning their own spark, this conversation is a call back to the fire within.

Sometimes, tending the fire inside is what brings us back to life.

But I choose to believe, and I’ve kind of like re-oriented my life around the idea, that it’s these smaller, softer moments that I hope can build more of a sustainable spiraling up, a more sustainable evolution for all of us. It’s the best solution I have.” William Etundi

William Etundi Jr. is best known for producing large-scale events that mix social commentary, art, and public spectacle. His productions have been experienced by over 100,000 guests from the Brooklyn underground, to Art Basel Miami to the Louvre to the White House. In 2012 he launched SeeMe, a venture-backed international artist network that grew to over 1 million members, which sold to BoomBoom Prints in 2016. He is also the founder and creative director of You Are So Lucky, one of the most sought-after tickets in New York City. His work has been featured in the pages of Vogue, i-D Magazine, Paper Magazine, and more, with the New York Times proclaiming him “an impresario of the underground.” William is the founder of CX — a private network of edge-seekers & the intellectually promiscuous who come together at secret events hosted across New York City (and soon beyond…). CX is a curated community of thinkers, creators, outcasts, artists and visionaries, built on mutual respect, beauty and the thrill of pushing the outer boundaries of thought and culture.
