Rick Edwards

The charming man of his word, Rick Edwards shares his answer to the question “What’s the Future You Choose?” for our book.

“I choose a future where everything is fairer – the distribution of power, of resources, of respect. I’d also like an environmentally sound hoverboard please.”

Rick is part of the T4 presenting family alongside Alexa Chung, Steve Jones and Miquita Oliver. He started off doing stand-up and sketch shows at University and has written material for BBC Radio and various TV shows as well as a stint as the audience warm-up guy for what he describes as ‘a crowd of degenerates and old people’ on the BBC’s Ruby Wax daytime show. Rick co-presented the E4 music show which led to the C4 offering him their flagship youth music show FRESHLY SQUEEZED alongside Alexa Chung.

He is a huge movie buff and regularly hosts T4’s movie specials. Particular highlights have been PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN 3, TRANSFORMERS, RATATOUILLE and BOURNE ULTIMATUM. This year he also presented the BBCi red-carpet coverage of the BAFTAS.

Rick has many hidden talents: he studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University and has tutored A-Level and GCSE Maths, Physics, Biology and Art. He’s a great swimmer – once beating Britain’s No 1 Triathlete in a race – and a very keen ten-pin bowler to boot.

He was very busy covering all the major music festivals this past summer. He was seen filming at the O2 Wireless Festival, T4 on the Beach from Weston Super Mare alongside Miquita, Steve and Alexa and V Festival which had a fantastic lineup.

Rick has also hosted a brand new gameshow titled RELENTLESS,  on C4. It’s a new show that takes place in your real life: anywhere, anytime. Contestants are asked to complete a series of exciting challenges and answer a number of quiz questions, all in 48 hours. They don’t know when the challenges will start, or what those challenges might be, so they always have to be ready.

Rick is also a judge for the Observer Ethical Awards.
